What is Biomechanics?
Biomechanics is the study of the structure, alignment and movement of the skeletal system. Often pain found in the feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back can be caused or attributed to poor foot alignment or biomechanical dysfunction. Thus dysfunction leads to excessive stresses on the foot and lower limb which may be accentuated by sporting activity.
Assessment is initially carried out visually, then by measurement, computerised foot pressure analysis and gait analysis. The information is then collated and a prescription for orthotics or insoles is formulated. The orthotics will help minimise current injury and pain and will also assist in preventing further injury. They will improve posture and comfort thus enhancing everyday life, walking and sporting activity.
